Background:
OSU is one of six universities nationwide chosen to participate in Call-to-Serve’s innovative pilot program to educate a "new generation about the importance of a strong federal civil service..." Identifying a gap in communication between federal agencies and college campuses, Call-to-Serve has been instrumental in establishing links between federal agencies and college campuses, and has been a strong advocate for providing students with information about federal jobs.
Why Now?
With more than half of the 1.8 million current federal employees eligible to retire in the next five years, federal agencies are reaching out to college campuses. Research shows that college students are interested in government employment, but few students have met with federal recruiters or know the "ins and outs" of federal application processes.
Why You?
Events and issues such as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Indonesia, the Iraqi war, international economics, and environmental and health crises, emphasize the need for bright, motivated individuals to meet national and global challenges. With its size, diversity, and strength of curriculum, Ohio State University’s talented students can do something great in the federal government.
