Buckeye Student Leadership Academy

June 25–28, 2018

About the program

The offices of Undergraduate Admissions, University Orientation and First Year Experience; Diversity and Inclusion; and Student Life at The Ohio State University are pleased to announce the launch of the Buckeye Student Leadership Academy.

The BSLA is a special summer program for rising Ohio high school seniors who are high achieving, first-generation, rural and/or underrepresented minority students. Students apply for the program in their junior year.

The program gives participants the opportunity to broadly experience life on the Ohio State campus. Over three and a half days, participants will:

  • Attend personal development workshops
  • Meet with faculty and staff
  • Work on group projects
  • Interact with Ohio State students
  • Take part in leadership, cultural and social activities

The program is free to participants.

Bus transportation is available from central, northeast, northwest and southeast Ohio. Students who drive to campus will receive a permit to cover the cost of parking on campus. On-campus transportation is provided for attendees when necessary.

Student participants will stay in residence halls.

Benefits of the program

Students will learn more about themselves and others, and how to make the college experience work for them. They'll learn about resources that support their success and consider how to become better leaders on campus and in their communities. They'll also hear about the admissions process and how to afford a college education.
